Winter Fields

hurtling through heavy snow
our hands are cold and the moon sets low
little sister let your sharp teeth show
pass winter fields
stop the car by the old wire post
skitty rabbits make good paper goats
but let me salt out to serve sic coats
and fall into winter fields
rose out in whites,
spelled our escape in the old tough lights
oh mother, i’m scared to close my eyes
someone judge me (?) make you dive and dive down

in sub-zero, i can’t stand still
colors of absence flooding the hill
and then … our trick ans spill through winter fields
under the stairs ta?s the metronome
the diver suit that we’ve all outgrown
and need to get to where the wild things moan
