Heavenly

Their footsteps resound down the hallway
Like ghosts, they ascend over fences
The cotton gets caught on the barbed wire spots
And they run, naked as ever
The summer has taken another and another

And each bed is empty in the morning
And small tears fall down small faces
And raincoats and shoes the colour of blue
Will sit there forever and ever
To fade like the ones they remember

But from up above
Come songs of love
The old folks sing
In heavenly peace
